Think Like a Hacker:
Learn how real experts solve cybersecurity mysteries.
Objective:
To train students to think like cybersecurity experts by solving real-world challenges, finding hidden “flags,” and gaining hands-on experience in ethical hacking, coding, and digital defense.
Event Format:
1.Team Composition:
- Team of up to 3-5 students.
2.Challenge Type:
- Participants solve puzzles and exploit vulnerabilities to find hidden “flags” (secret codes).
- Practical, hands-on challenges using industry-standard tools like Wireshark, Nmap, and Burp Suite.
3.Skills Covered:
- Cybersecurity fundamentals, ethical hacking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
- Focus on building critical thinking, resilience, and creative approaches to defending digital systems.
Outcome:
The CTF Challenge enhanced students’ cybersecurity skills through real-time problem-solving and hands-on learning. It developed their teamwork, critical thinking, and resilience while exposing them to industry-relevant tools and techniques. Students gained a strong foundation in ethical hacking and a competitive edge for future opportunities in technology, cybersecurity, and digital safety.
KITS-CTF Criterion
- Refrain from registering and playing with multiple teams.
- Participants are allowed to bring their own laptops.
- Teams shall not share flags or any hints with other team participants.
- Seeking assistance in the form of hints on challenges via DM, etc is not permitted.
- Avoid performing attacks/modifying the scoreboard or our infra. (e.g. DoS)
- The prize money will be transferred in INR. The organizing committee shall be responsible for transferring the prize money.
- We will ask for your Personal Identifiable Information (PII) for payment of rewards and checking of anti-social forces
- Usage of AI tools will not be entertained.
- We will not support multiple transfer accounts. Only one bank account can receive the rewards.
- Top 2 Team(s) will need to send their write ups to us
- The following is a sample of a valid flag . Any flag not in a similar format is a false flag. Sample flag KITS-CTF{Th!$_!$_@_$@mp13_71@9}.
- We reserve the right to ban and disqualify any teams breaking any of these rules.
- You are not allowed to brute-force any challenge on a server, unless specified otherwise.
- Collaboration between competing teams is not allowed.
- Flag hoarding is not allowed.

Ground Rules
- Treat everyone with respect. We do not tolerate any kind of harassment. If you have a concern for any reason, please contact admin immediately.
- Posting flags in any place is strictly prohibited.
- Write-ups or solution discussions should only be shared after the CTF has officially ended.
- Any attempt to disrupt or attack the CTF infrastructure is strictly prohibited.
- Do not advertise other events or activities without prior approval from the organizers/admins.
- Violating any of the above rules may result in immediate disqualification and a ban from continuing KITS-CTF.
