Objective:
The Spell Bee Competition aims to enhance students’ vocabulary, spelling accuracy, and linguistic proficiency through an engaging and competitive platform. The event encourages participants to develop language skills, boost self-confidence, and foster quick thinking while competing in a fun and interactive environment.
Event Highlights:
🔤 Test of Vocabulary – Participants showcase their spelling, pronunciation, and word knowledge.
🧠 Enhances Language Skills – Builds stronger communication abilities and word retention.
🏆 Recognition & Awards – Top spellers will be honored and celebrated for their excellence.
🎯 Interactive Rounds – The competition includes progressive levels of difficulty to challenge participant's skills.
Materials Provided:
- A4 Sheets (for rough work, if required)
Note: Participants must bring their own pens or pencils.
Rules for Spell Bee Competition:
I. Preliminary Rounds
Round 1: Eliminating 100 (200 –100) = 100
Round 2: Eliminating 50 (100 – 50) = 50
Round 3: Eliminating 40 (50 – 40) = 10
Note: In all the preliminary rounds each contestant must spell 5 words consecutively without a pass.
Elimination Rules:
- Incorrect Spelling
- Time limit violation (15-30 sec)
- Self-correction not allowed
- Prompting or External help
- Improper pronunciation of letters
- Violation of conduct
- No use of Phonetics
Total 3 Rounds in Preliminary (Expected - 200 participants)
II. Finals:
Round 1: Eliminating 5 (10 – 5) = 5
Round 2: Eliminating 3 (5 – 3) = 2
Round 3: Selecting 1 (2 – 1) = 1
Rules for the Final rounds:
- Round 1- Each contestant must spell 5 words consecutively without a pass. No time limit.
- Round 2 - Each contestant must spell 10 words consecutively in 60 seconds. Can pass the word or get back to that word if 60 seconds have not lapsed.
- Round 3 - Each contestant must spell 10 words, no time limit but the participant needs to spell swiftly without wasting the time.
Outcome:
The Spell Bee Competition will:
- Improve student's spelling accuracy and vocabulary.
- Enhance listening and pronunciation skills.
- Build confidence and presence of mind in a competitive setting.
- Foster a love for language learning and effective communication.
By combining fun, learning, and competition, the Spell Bee inspires students to master the art of words and strengthens their linguistic foundation.
