Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences has identified four focal areas of research relevant to the society and environment, namely water, food, health and renewable energy.

The highlights of research and consultancy programmes of the departments are given below:

1. Central/coordinated research in Aerodynamics and Propulsion
2. More than 5 externally funded research projects at a total outlay of Rs 0.5 crores
3. Short-term research projects to the tune of 1 lakhs for introducing fresh faculty members and students to research based on a project mode
4. Around 5 students pursuing Ph D programme following the UGC norms
5. MoUs with more than 5+ reputed academic/ research institutions and industrial houses
6. Consultancy works worth in lakhs taken up recently for Industries and academic agencies
7. Around 50 papers in International Journals
