The Water Institute at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences brings together experienced academicians and researchers dedicated to advancing knowledge in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. Our faculty possess expertise across water and wastewater management, water treatment technologies, hydrological modelling, groundwater and water resources management, and the application of soft computing, artificial intelligence, GIS, and remote sensing to water-sector challenges. Through research-driven teaching and field-informed learning, they connect scientific theory with real-world water management challenges to develop capable, ethical, and analytically minded professionals.
Our faculty actively engage in research, consultancy, and international collaboration, addressing contemporary challenges in water treatment, desalination, groundwater modelling, bioremediation, and sustainable wetland management. Our Faculty Members
Dr. P. Jegathambal, M.E., Ph.D., Post.Doc.
Dr. P. Jegathambal is a Professor at the Water Institute, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, specializing in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. She completed a Post Doctoral Programme at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, and earned her Ph.D. through the DAAD Sandwich Programme at IIT Madras and RWTH Aachen University. Her research spans water and wastewater management, water treatment technologies, hydrological modelling, soft computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning, GIS and remote sensing, and sustainable groundwater and water resources management. She holds three granted patents and has supervised 22 international IAESTE interns.
