Dr. Prasanth Koothoor

Dr. Prasanth Koothoor is an Assistant Professor, School of Media, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, with research and teaching interests in AI in Media, Augmented and Virtual Reality in advertising, transformation of media consumption, data-driven content creation, and digital divide. He has been associated with Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences since August 2020.

He completed his Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication from Bharathiar University in 2014, an M.Sc. in Electronic Media in 2008, and a B.Sc. in Visual Communication (Electronic Media) in 2006 from Bharathiar University. His professional experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant at PSG College of Arts and Science and as Assistant Professor and Head at Nehru Arts and Science College.

Dr. Prasanth Koothoor has contributed to academic research through 4 international journal publications, 4 international conference publications, and 6 national conference publications during 2010–2025. His research contributions cover media, communication, emerging technologies, and related contemporary areas. He has also contributed a patent titled “A Novel Conceptual Framework for Enhancing Social Media Literacy and Compacting Fake News,” with Application No. 202341058337, published on 08 September 2023.
