Dr. V. Suresh

Dr. V. Suresh is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Horticulture, School of Agricultural Sciences, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore. He holds a Ph.D. in Horticulture with specialization in Spices, Plantation, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants from HC & RI, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, completed in 2016. He also holds an M.Sc. in Horticulture from Annamalai University, Chidambaram, and a B.Sc. in Horticulture from Adhiparasakthi Agricultural College, Vellore. He qualified the ASRB-NET in 2018.

His research interests and academic expertise encompass spices, plantation, medicinal and aromatic plants, crop production, nutrient management, pruning and canopy management, bio-stimulants, organic amendments, propagation techniques, and postharvest management. His doctoral research focused on the effect of pruning techniques and foliar nutrition on the growth, yield, and quality of curry leaf (Murraya koenigii Spreng.). He has teaching and academic experience at RVS Padmavathy College of Horticulture, Adhiyamaan College of Agriculture and Research, and Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He has also guided five M.Sc. students, with three currently undergoing, and is supervising one Ph.D. scholar.

Dr. V. Suresh has contributed to research through publications on curry leaf production and quality, medicinal plants, organic and integrated nutrient management, spices and plantation crops, propagation, rooting and postharvest management, and horticultural crop improvement. His scholarly contributions include 18 research articles, three books, four book chapters, two abstracts, four popular articles, and three review articles as listed in the CV. His publications also cover recent studies on silver nanoparticles, rooting and survivability of water apple, organic manures in medicinal crops, fig propagation, flood stress in fruit crops, and nanotechnology-based water solutions. He has presented research through posters and papers at national and international horticultural conferences, symposia, and scientific events.

He has received the Excellence in Teaching Award from Grow Great in 2019, the Young Scientist Award at the 7th International Scientist Award on Engineering, Science and Medicine in 2020, and the Best Young Scientist Award in Agricultural Sciences from PEARL – A Foundation for Educational Excellence in 2020. He has participated in professional training programmes, including advanced teaching methodologies, agri-business development, potassium fertilizer recommendations, and agricultural scientific Tamil. He is a life member of several professional organizations, including the Indian Science Congress Association, Trends in Biotechnology & Biological Science, Advances in Life Sciences, and Trends in Bioscience, and is also associated with other professional organizations through annual and bi-annual memberships.
