Dr. Shely Mary Koshy

Dr. Shely Mary Koshy is an Assistant Professor of Agricultural Extension in the School of Agricultural Sciences at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension from Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur, completed in 2016, an M.Sc. Ag. in Agricultural Extension from Kerala Agricultural University, completed in 2013, and a B.Sc. (Hons.) Ag. from Kerala Agricultural University, completed in 2011. She qualified the UGC-NET in Adult Education, Continuing Education, Andragogy and Non-Formal Education in 2018.

Her research interests include Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Agricultural Extension and Indigenous Technical Knowledge (ITK) in Agriculture. Her academic and research contributions focus on the application of digital technologies and information systems in agriculture, agricultural information delivery, e-learning, farmer-oriented information services and emerging technologies in agricultural education and extension. Her research work has addressed topics including online learning among agriculture students, Kisan Call Centres, agricultural information delivery mechanisms, retrieval and storage of research information, and the application of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in agriculture and horticulture.

Dr. Shely Mary Koshy has contributed to research through publications in journals and conference proceedings in the areas of Agricultural Extension and technology-enabled agriculture. Her recent scholarly work includes research on digital twin frameworks for smart agriculture, digital twin technologies for precision agriculture and predictive simulation, traditional rice varieties and nutritional malady, online learning among undergraduate agriculture students, the impact of erratic rainfall on rice production, and e-learning challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her earlier publications have examined organizational web portals, Kisan Call Centres, agricultural information delivery through ICT, and research information management among postgraduate students.

Her scholarly contributions also include collaborative research on artificial intelligence applications in horticulture and digital approaches to agricultural education and extension. She has published research in the Journal of Extension Education, Agricultural Science Digest, Indian Journal of Extension Education, The Pharma Innovation Journal, Indian Journal of Economics and Development, and other academic publications, as well as contributing to IEEE International Symposium on Technology in Society proceedings. She is a life member of the Extension Education Society, Coimbatore, and continues to contribute to research and academic activities in Agricultural Extension.
