The Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences is committed to shaping engineers who can design, analyse, and innovate across the electronics and communication spectrum. Dr. Xavier N. Fernando, MSc., Ph.D.
Dr. Xavier N. Fernando is a Professor with 30 years of international academic experience in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, a Master's in Telecommunications, and a B.Sc. (First Class Honors) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. His research interests include wireless and optical communications, IoT, smart grids, machine learning, AI, and connected vehicles. He has nearly 300 publications, three patents, and over $3.3 million in research funding.
Dr. D. Nirmal is a Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering with 18+ years of experience in teaching and research. He holds a Ph.D. in Nano Device Modelling, an M.E. in VLSI Design, and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. His research interests include nanoelectronics, graphene, carbon nanotubes, GaN technology, nanoscale device modelling, device simulation, and sensors. He has 120 journals, 55 international conferences, and 13 book/chapter publications.
Dr. M. Nesasudha is a Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering with extensive teaching and research experience at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication, an M.E. in Applied Electronics, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication. Her research interests include wireless sensor networks, flexible antennas, optimization techniques, wireless body area networks, IoT, adaptive signal processing, and microwave biological effects. She has 50 journal and 52 international conference publications, two granted patents, and a DRDO-funded project.
Dr. D. Abraham Chandy is an Associate Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, an M.E. in Applied Electronics, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. His research interests include image and video processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, medical image analysis, content-based image retrieval, and optimization techniques. Dr. G. Josemin Bala is a Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Information and Communication, an M.E. in Communication Systems, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Her research interests include energy-efficient wireless networks, 5G communication, reconfigurable antenna design, cellular mobile computing, and cloud computing. Dr. J. Anitha is a Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication, an M.E. in Applied Electronics, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Her research interests include medical image processing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and satellite image analysis. Dr. D. Jude Hemanth is a Professor and Head of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication, an M.E. in Communication Systems, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. His research interests include artificial intelligence, machine learning, image processing, data science, artificial neural networks, and biomedical engineering. He has 173 journal and 154 international conference publications, 62 books, four funded projects, and has supervised 11 completed and 6 ongoing Ph.D. scholars.
Dr. A. Diana Andrushia is a Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering, an M.E. in Applied Electronics, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Her research interests include pattern recognition, computational models of visual attention, AI-based structural health monitoring, and agricultural information technology. She has 90 journal and 33 international conference publications, and has received the Stanford–Elsevier World's Top 2% Scientists recognition for 2025.
Dr. T. Anita Jones Mary Pushpa is an Associate Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with 22 years of experience. She holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication, an M.E. in Communication Systems, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication. Her research interests include antenna design, wireless body area networks, microwave engineering, optical communication, IoT, wearable and implantable devices, and satellite communication. She has 33 journal and 17 international conference publications, one patent, and has received the Innovative Women Professional Engineer Award.
Dr. D.S. Shylu Sam is an Associate Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, an M.Tech. in VLSI Design, and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Her research interests include Analog VLSI, ASIC design, CMOS VLSI, embedded systems, SoC design, hardware verification, photonics, and quantum computing. Dr. S. Immanuel Alex Pandian is an Associate Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. His research interests include image and video processing, computer vision, machine learning, high-performance networks, and communication systems. Dr. G. Shine Let is an Associate Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication, an M.E. in Communication Systems, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication. Her research interests include reconfigurable antennas, mobile applications, wireless networks, software-defined radio, and high-speed networks. Dr. D. Raveena Judie Dolly is an Assistant Professor (SG) of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication, an M.E. in Applied Electronics, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication. Her research interests include image and video processing, medical image analysis, and machine learning, with ICMR-funded projects on assistive healthcare technologies. Dr. G. Manoj is an Assistant Professor (SG) of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. His research interests include analog integrated circuits, VLSI design and optimization for medical applications, VLSI for IoT systems, SoC design, and low-power design techniques. Dr. T. Mary Neebha is an Associate Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication, an M.E. in Communication Systems, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication, all with distinction or high commendation. Her research interests include antenna design, AI-driven antenna optimization, RF and microwave devices, metamaterials, flexible antennas, biomedical applications, machine learning, and reconfigurable antennas. Dr. H. Victor Du John is an Associate Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication, an M.Tech. in Applied Electronics, and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, with distinction in his M.Tech. and B.E. Dr. D. Narain Ponraj is an Assistant Professor (SG) in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. Dr. M.A.P. Manimekalai is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. Dr. I. Thusnavis Bella Mary is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering, an M.E. in Applied Electronics, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication, with distinction in both postgraduate and undergraduate degrees. Dr. S. Merlin Gilbert Raj is an Assistant Professor-II in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, an M.E. in Communication Systems, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. His research interests include reconfigurable antenna design, RIS-assisted communication, millimeter-wave systems, hybrid beamforming, and channel estimation. Dr. A. Alfred Kirubaraj is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication – Nanotechnology, an M.Tech. in VLSI Design, and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Dr. J. John Paul is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. Dr. P. Malin Bruntha is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. Dr. G. Gomathi Jawahar is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Mathematics at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics, an M.Phil. in Mathematics, an M.Sc. in Mathematics, and a B.Sc. in Mathematics. Her research focuses on neutral delay difference equations, oscillation behaviour, and asymptotic behaviour. Dr. Shajin Prince is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. Dr. R. Catherine Joy is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, an M.E. in Applied Electronics, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Dr. P.S. Divya is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Mathematics at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics with specialization in Mathematical Modelling, an M.Phil. in Mathematics, an M.Sc. in Mathematics, and a B.Sc. in Mathematics. Her research focuses on mathematical and statistical modelling, predictive analytics, and machine learning, with expertise in wind energy systems and IoT-based health monitoring. Dr. Tony Jose is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Fiber Optic Communication Systems, an M.Tech. in Microwave and Television Engineering, and a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. His research interests include optical communication, Radio-over-Fiber systems, free-space optical communication, doped fiber amplifiers, optical sensors, nonlinear optics, photonic crystal fibers, and supercontinuum generation. Mrs. Rakhi R. A. is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds an M.Tech. in Applied Electronics with Distinction and a B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering with First Class and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication. Her research interests include deep learning for image analysis, digital image processing, machine learning, signal processing, and artificial neural networks. She has one international journal and one international conference publication and has contributed as Co-PI to an AR&DB-funded research project.
Ms. S. Rubeena Grace Tamilarasi is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds an M.Tech. in Communication Systems with Distinction and a B.Tech. in Electronics and Media Technology with First Class and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Her research interests include IoT, LoRaWAN, cloud computing, LPWAN, environmental monitoring, disaster management, predictive IoT data analysis, and smart communication systems. She has one international journal and five international conference publications, contributed to two research projects, and received a Best Paper Award at ICDCS'22.
Dr. Angelin Delighta A is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication/Nanoelectronics with Commended grade, an M.Tech. in VLSI Design with Distinction, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering with First Class. Her research interests include semiconductor technology scaling, emerging low-power transistors, nanosheet and vertical MOSFETs, tunnel FETs, junctionless MOSFETs, biosensors, DRAM, and low-power RF devices. She has 5 international journals and 5 international conference publications.
Soundarya V. is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds an M.E. in Electronics and Communication with Distinction and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication with Distinction and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Her research interests include electronic circuits, digital system design, semiconductor devices, linear integrated circuits, CMOS VLSI design, and digital electronics. She has one international conference publication, is involved in a research project on Vertical GaN-on-GaN FinFETs, and received a Best Paper Award at the 7th IEEE International Conference on Devices, Circuits and Systems.
Ms. Leena Gifty S. is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds an M.E. in Communication Systems with First Class and Distinction and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication with First Class and Distinction. Her research interests include antenna design for wireless body area networks, flexible antennas for medical applications, linear integrated circuits, electronic circuits, communication engineering, wireless networks, and digital electronics. She has one international conference publication.

Mr. Jebavaram J (Lab Technician Gr-1)
Mr. Jebavaram J is a Lab Technician Gr-1 in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He assists faculty during practical and laboratory sessions, sets up experimental equipment and circuit kits ahead of classes, and helps students troubleshoot hardware during hands-on exercises. His responsibilities also include routine maintenance, calibration checks, and safekeeping of lab components and instruments.
Mr. J Manohar Livingston is a Lab Technician Grade-I in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He supports the conduct of laboratory courses by preparing equipment and test setups, assisting students and faculty during practical sessions, and maintaining lab instruments in working condition. He also helps track consumables and lab inventory to keep sessions running smoothly.
Mr. D.B. Jeyachandran is a Senior Lab Technician in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering. With greater experience than junior lab staff, he oversees the upkeep and calibration of laboratory equipment across multiple labs, coordinates with faculty on practical scheduling, and guides junior technicians in equipment handling and lab safety practices. He plays a key role in ensuring the labs remain well-maintained and ready for both academic and research use.
Mr. Wilson Christopher Raj is a Lab Technician Gr-1 in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He supports faculty during laboratory classes by preparing equipment, assisting with wiring and circuit setups, and helping resolve technical issues that arise during student experiments. He is also responsible for basic upkeep and inventory management of lab hardware.
Mr. Patturaj L is a Lab Technician Gr-II in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He provides hands-on support during laboratory sessions, assisting students with equipment setup and basic troubleshooting under the guidance of senior technical staff. His role includes helping maintain lab cleanliness, organizing components, and supporting day-to-day lab operations.
Mr. Jebasingh A is a Lab Technician Gr-1 in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He assists in preparing and running laboratory sessions, helps students operate test and measurement equipment safely, and supports faculty with demonstrations during practical classes. He also contributes to the regular maintenance and organization of lab resources.
Mr. Joseph Chinnadurai G is a Lab Technician Gr-1 in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He supports laboratory instruction by setting up experiments, assisting students during practical work, and helping troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise. His duties also include maintaining lab records and ensuring instruments are stored and functioning properly between sessions.

Mr. J. Cherub Jeshurun Allwyn (Executive Assistant)
Mr. J. Cherub Jeshurun Allwyn is the Executive Assistant for the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering. He manages day-to-day administrative tasks for the Division office, including correspondence, scheduling, and record-keeping, and coordinates communication between faculty, students, and the wider college administration. His support helps ensure the smooth functioning of the Division's academic and administrative activities.
