Dr. M.S.P. Subathra is a Professor in the Division of Robotics Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology, at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She has been serving the institution since February 1997 and has over 24 years and 6 months of teaching experience along with 15 years of research experience. She completed her B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, M.E. in Power Systems, and Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Her areas of specialization include Optimization Techniques, Machine Learning, Sensor Technology, Signal Processing, and Power Systems, while her research interests extend to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Control Systems, Renewable Energy, and Sensor Technologies.
Dr. Subathra has made significant contributions to teaching, research, and academic guidance. She has published 27 international journal papers and presented 20 international and 3 national conference papers. She has guided six Ph.D. scholars and thirty master's projects and has actively participated in numerous conferences, workshops, faculty development programmes, and professional activities. She is a Life Member of ISTE and IAENG and has contributed to the academic community as a reviewer for several reputed international journals.
She has received the Achievers Award (2017–18) from Karunya University for securing a funded DST-WTI project and has guided award-winning student innovation projects, including patented prototypes in agriculture and automation. She has successfully obtained research funding from DST-WTI, MNRE, and CSIR for projects related to wastewater treatment and renewable energy technologies. Her collaborations with leading academic institutions and extensive involvement in funded research demonstrate her commitment to interdisciplinary research and technological innovation.
Her research focuses on artificial intelligence, machine learning, biomedical signal processing, optimization techniques, renewable energy, power systems, and sensor technologies. In addition to her journal and conference publications, she has published patents related to epilepsy detection and automation systems and has authored book chapters in machine learning, biomedical engineering, and data analysis. She also collaborates with several international universities and research organizations, reflecting her active engagement in global research initiatives and advancements in Robotics Engineering.
