Dr. S. Mohanasundaram

Dr. S. Mohanasundaram is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Robotics Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology, at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He joined the institution in June 2011 and holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, an M.Tech. in Engineering Design, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering. He has over 12 years and 6 months of teaching experience, 3 years and 10 months of industry experience, and 3 years of research experience. His areas of specialization include CAD/CAM, Additive Manufacturing, and Design & Manufacturing, while his research interests focus on Digital Manufacturing, Additive Manufacturing, Surface Composites, and FRP Composites.

Dr. Mohanasundaram has contributed significantly to teaching, research, and academic development. He has published 18 international journal papers and presented 4 international and 1 national conference papers. He has guided two master's projects and has actively participated in seminars, workshops, faculty development programmes, and professional activities. He is a Life Member of the Indian Institute of Production Engineers (IIPE) and a member of the International Association of Engineers (IAENG), reflecting his active involvement in the engineering research community.

His research activities focus on advanced manufacturing technologies, friction stir processing, metal matrix composites, welding technologies, machining, sustainable manufacturing, and material characterization. Through his research, he has contributed to the development of innovative manufacturing techniques, composite materials, and process optimization methods applicable to modern industrial and robotic manufacturing systems.

His research primarily emphasizes additive manufacturing, CAD/CAM, digital manufacturing, surface engineering, friction stir processing, FRP composites, metal matrix composites, and advanced welding technologies. In addition to his journal and conference publications, he has authored book chapters related to sustainable manufacturing and composite materials, demonstrating his continued contribution to research and innovation in advanced manufacturing and Robotics Engineering.
