Dr. A. Johny Renoald

Dr. A. Johny Renoald is serving as Professor (Research) in the Division of Robotics Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University, along with M.E. in Power Electronics and Drives and B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. With 16 years and 10 months of teaching experience and 6 years of research experience, his expertise lies in Power Electronics for Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Forecasting. His research interests include energy systems, power electronics, power system analysis, power quality, renewable energy resources, artificial intelligence, information and communication technologies, and image processing. He teaches a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses related to electrical engineering, power electronics, renewable energy, electric drives, control systems, and advanced power converter technologies.

Dr. Johny Renoald has established a strong academic and research profile with 60 international journal publications, 8 international conference presentations, and participation in 6 international conferences, seminars, and workshops. His research contributions primarily focus on renewable energy integration, solar photovoltaic systems, multilevel inverters, power quality improvement, intelligent optimization techniques, electric vehicles, smart grids, IoT-based monitoring systems, and artificial intelligence applications in electrical engineering. In addition to journal publications, he has authored several book chapters with reputed publishers and has consistently contributed to research in advanced energy and power electronic systems.

His research accomplishments are further strengthened through innovation and professional recognition. He has received the Best Paper Award (2021) from IET Circuits, Devices & Systems and holds memberships in professional bodies including ISSE, IAENG, and ISTE. He has also secured three patents, including two granted patents, covering innovations in railway safety monitoring, waste segregation and recycling, and smart climate forecasting robots. His continuous involvement in faculty development programmes and research activities demonstrates his commitment to advancing teaching, innovation, and interdisciplinary research in electrical and robotics engineering.

Before joining Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences as Professor (Research) in January 2026, Dr. Johny Renoald served in several academic institutions, including Kongu Polytechnic College, Vivekanandha College of Technology for Women, Vivekanandha Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, and Vivekananda College of Engineering for Women. Through his extensive publication record, patented innovations, professional affiliations, and expertise in renewable energy and intelligent power systems, he continues to contribute significantly to research and higher education in Robotics Engineering.
