Dr. M. Wilson Kumar

Dr. M. Wilson Kumar is an Assistant Professor, Division of Mechanical Engineering, with research interests in Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing, Industrial Ergonomics, Additive Manufacturing, Rapid Prototyping, Robotics and Automation, Biomechanics, Biomaterials and Reverse Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Karunya University (2018), an M.E. in CAD/CAM from Anna University (2005), and a B.Tech. in Production Engineering from Sri Krishnadevaraya University (2002).

He has served at KITS since 2006, currently as Assistant Professor (AGP 8000), and previously held positions as Assistant Professor and Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. His teaching interests include Product Design and Development Strategies, CAD/CAM, Additive Manufacturing, Industrial Ergonomics and Human Factors, and Industrial Robotics and Automation.

Dr. Wilson Kumar has published 11 international journal papers and 7 international/national conference papers, with 4 Scopus citations, 4 Google Scholar citations and an h-index of 1. He has completed supervision of 1 Master's thesis and has served as a reviewer for the International Robotics & Automation Journal.

His research contributions include three patent applications related to accessibility and ergonomic products, including an escalator for elderly or physically challenged persons, an AI-based ergonomic laptop stand and an intelligent ergonomic computer chair. He has also received two best paper awards for work in ergonomics and human factors, and contributed to consultancy and DST-SEED TIDE projects.
