Dr. Joseph John Marshal S

Dr. Joseph John Marshal S is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Mechanical Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Karunya University (2019), an M.E. in Thermal Engineering from Anna University (2005), and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Andhra University (2002). His research interests include Biomass Gasification and Pyrolysis Technologies, Waste-to-Energy Conversion, Application of Biofuels in I.C. Engines, Solar Energy, and Heat Transfer in Thermal Energy Systems.

His research work focuses on renewable energy, biomass conversion, gasification and pyrolysis technologies, biofuels, and thermal energy systems. He has published 10 international journal papers and 7 international/national conference papers, with 52 Scopus citations, 2 book chapters, and an h-index of 2. He also serves as a reviewer for FUEL-ELSEVIER.

Dr. Joseph John Marshal S has undertaken a DST–WM funded research project titled Design of 2 TPD Rotary Kiln Gasification Pilot Plant with High CV Syngas Production, with funding of Rs. 6.12 crore during 2021–2024. His research guidance includes 4 ongoing Ph.D. theses and 5 completed Master's theses.

He has extensive academic experience in Mechanical Engineering at KITS, serving as Assistant Professor from 2009 onwards. He previously served as Senior Lecturer from 2008–2009 and Lecturer from 2005–2008. His teaching interests include Engineering Thermodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Advanced Fluid Mechanics, Computational Fluid Dynamics, and Renewable Energy Technologies.
