Dr. S. J. Vijay, M.E., Ph.D.
Dr. S. J. Vijay is the Registrar and a Professor in the Division of Mechanical Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.E. in CAD/CAM. His research expertise includes additive manufacturing, friction stir welding, composite materials for electrical applications, and carbon nanomaterials for electronic applications. He has 58 international journal publications and seven patents, and has guided Ph.D. and M.E. scholars.
Dr. A. Brusly Solomon is a Professor in the Division of Mechanical Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, holding a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from KITs. His research focuses on ferrofluid-based heat transfer enhancement, heat pipes, and electronic cooling. He has undertaken funded research and consultancy projects from DST, ISRO, DRDO, and industry partners, published 80 international journal papers, and holds eight patents. He has guided Ph.D. and Master's theses and served as Guest Editor for international journals.
Dr. Godson Asirvatham Lazarus is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Deputy Director for Sponsored Projects and Grants at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, with a Ph.D. in nanofluid heat transfer and 24+ years of experience.
His research covers AI/ML-based thermal systems, electronics/EV thermal management, renewable energy, desalination, and elastocaloric cooling, and he ranks among the world's top 2% scientists (Stanford, 2020–2025) with 120+ publications, 6,031+ citations, and an h-index of 39.
He holds 14 patents, has led ~₹5 crore in funded projects (DST, BRFST, MoES, ISRO), heads the CRMS&TM centre, and has received multiple national and international awards.
Dr. P. Sam Paul is a Professor in the Division of Mechanical Engineering, specializing in mechanical vibration, finite element analysis, computer-aided design, rotor dynamics, machining, and smart materials. His research is supported by patents and funded projects. He has published 51 journal and 26 conference papers, with 294 Scopus citations and an h-index of 10. He has extensive experience in postgraduate and doctoral research guidance.
Dr. R. Raja is an Associate Professor in the Division of Mechanical Engineering, specializing in machining and drilling of polymer and metal matrix composites, composite synthesis and characterization, friction stir welding, and friction stir processing. His research includes a patent submission and research projects. He has published 38 journal and seven conference papers, with 80 Scopus citations and an h-index of 5. He has guided postgraduate and doctoral research scholars.
Dr. B. Jefferson Raja Bose is an Associate Professor in the Division of Mechanical Engineering, specializing in experimental heat transfer, nanofluid-based thermal systems, heat pipes, and mini/micro-channel heat transfer. His research contributions include 15 journal and two conference publications, with 167 Scopus citations and an h-index of 6. He has extensive postgraduate research guidance experience and expertise in thermal engineering and heat transfer.
Dr. Gadudasu Babu Rao is an Associate Professor in the Division of Mechanical Engineering, specializing in manufacturing and automation, biomaterials, medical equipment design, rehabilitation robotics, mechatronics, and assistive wearable devices. His research is supported by multiple patents and DST-funded projects. He has published 19 journal and 12 conference papers and has guided postgraduate scholars. Dr. M. Wilson Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Mechanical Engineering, and serves as IQAC Coordinator and Head, OBCFC Centre, specializing in CAD/CAM, industrial ergonomics, additive manufacturing, robotics and automation, biomechanics, and reverse engineering. His research includes three patents, two Best Paper Awards, consultancy and research projects, and 11 journal and seven conference publications. He has also guided postgraduate research scholars.
Dr. Sabitha Jannet is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Mechanical Engineering, specializing in friction stir welding and processing, metallurgy, and nano surface composites. Dr. Arul Kirubakarn D is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Mechanical Engineering, specializing in hard material machining, composites, shape memory alloys, machining simulation, and magnesium machining. Dr. G.
