Dr. Pragalyaa Shree M.M. is an Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) in the Department of Food Processing Technology at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences with over 12 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. She holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Processing and Food Engineering and an M.Tech. in Food and Agricultural Process Engineering from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, along with a B.E. in Agricultural Engineering. She has also qualified the ASRB-NET examination in Post Harvest Engineering and Technology and has received several academic and research awards in recognition of her contributions.
Her teaching expertise covers a wide range of subjects, including Fluid Mechanics for Food Processing, Unit Operations in Food Processing, Mechanical Systems for Food Processing, Engineering Properties of Biological Materials, Food Safety and Standards, Food Packaging Technology, and Advances in Food Process Engineering. She has actively contributed to curriculum development, accreditation activities, student mentoring, research supervision, and academic administration, while promoting innovative teaching and interdisciplinary learning.
Her research focuses on Sustainable Food Packaging, Biodegradable and Edible Cutlery, Nutraceutical and Functional Foods, Non-Thermal Cold Plasma Technology, Agro-industrial Waste Valorization, and Value Addition of Millets. She has also made notable contributions in patent drafting and intellectual property management, with granted and published patents related to agricultural engineering and biodegradable food products.
Dr. Pragalyaa Shree has published numerous research articles, review papers, and book chapters in national and international journals and edited volumes. Her publications cover areas such as biodegradable food packaging, edible cutlery, food processing technologies, cold plasma applications, drying technologies, agro-waste utilization, food preservation, and sustainable food engineering, reflecting her continued research contributions to food processing and sustainable technologies.
