Dr. Dayanand Peter is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Food Processing Technology at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He has more than 18 years of experience in food processing technology, teaching, research, curriculum development, laboratory development, and industry collaboration.
His research interests include food safety and regulations, intelligent food packaging, food quality assessment, sustainable food processing, functional foods and nutraceuticals, postharvest technology, and circular bioeconomy and waste valorization.
He has contributed to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, mentoring students, conducting research in food safety, packaging and sustainable processing, developing and strengthening laboratories and infrastructure, guiding student projects and publications, and collaborating with industry and research organizations.
Dr. Dayanand Peter has 18 Scopus-indexed publications and 169 citations, with an academic career spanning from 2007 to the present. His academic and research work focuses on food safety, packaging, quality assurance, sustainable food processing, and industry-oriented food technology.
His academic qualifications include an M.Tech. in Agricultural Process & Food Engineering from Allahabad Agricultural Institute – Deemed University, completed in 2005, and a B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering from Allahabad Agricultural Institute – Deemed University, completed in 2003.
He has professional certifications in Nutraceuticals Regulations, Child Nutrition and Cooking, and Global Postharvest Loss Prevention. He is also associated with professional bodies including the Indian Dairy Association – Tamil Nadu Chapter and the Association of Food Scientists & Technologists (India).
His research and academic contributions include journal articles, review articles, and book chapters in areas related to food processing, food safety, food packaging, postharvest technology, phenolic compounds, nutraceuticals, circular bioeconomy, and emerging food processing technologies.
