Dr.Preethi D is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore. She holds a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University, an M.E. in VLSI Design from Avinashilingam University with Distinction, and a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Avinashilingam University with Distinction. She has academic experience across institutions including Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology and Bannari Amman Institute of Technology.
Her research and teaching interests include VLSI Design, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) and Embedded Systems, with emphasis on energy-efficient hardware architectures, biomedical signal processing and intelligent automation. Her broader research interests encompass smart healthcare, computer vision and next-generation edge computing solutions. Her work integrates VLSI and embedded technologies with intelligent computing approaches for healthcare, signal processing, monitoring and automation applications.
Preethi D. has contributed 18 international journal publications, 26 international conference publications and 10 national conference publications. Her research activities include a DST-NIDHI PRAYAS-supported project on the development of a Smart Handwash Monitoring Device, with funding of ₹2.75 lakhs during 2020–2021. She has also contributed to intellectual property development through six patent applications covering physiological signal classification and enhancement, sleep-related breathing monitoring, hygienic hand-disinfection compliance, real-time tyre-pressure monitoring and automatic inflation, solar and battery storage systems for EV charging, and a low-cost handicapped vehicle.
She is a life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and has received recognitions including the Best Young Women Faculty Award and Young Woman Researcher in VLSI Design. Her professional experience includes academic roles as Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor (Senior Scale), Associate Professor and Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) across institutions in Tamil Nadu. Her current academic interests focus on energy-efficient VLSI architectures, AI-enabled biomedical applications, IoT, embedded systems, smart healthcare, computer vision and edge computing.
