Dr.C. Benin Pratap is an Assistant Professor, Division of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Photovoltaic Systems, an M.E. in Power Electronics and Drives from Anna University with First Class, and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from CSI Institute of Technology. He joined Karunya in July 2007 and has served in various academic positions including Lecturer and Assistant Professor, with his current designation being Assistant Professor (AGP 8000). His professional experience includes academic service at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Karunya University, and CSI College of Engineering, Ketti.
His research interests include Power Electronic Converter Applications for Solar PV-based Systems, Renewable Energy, and Electric Vehicles. His research activities cover solar photovoltaic systems, renewable energy technologies, electric vehicle applications, battery management, power electronic converters, multilevel converters, solar and fuel cell systems, and related intelligent computational approaches. He has also delivered lectures and served as a resource person in programmes related to sustainable energy solutions, automotive electronics, embedded systems and IoT, microcontroller-based system design, industrial automation, hybrid renewable energy resources, and power electronics.
His publication record includes several international journal and international conference publications, with multiple papers indexed in Scopus. His research publications address areas such as artificial neural network-based battery management, electric vehicle development and policy initiatives, torque ripple minimization, solar and fuel cell parameter estimation, multilevel converter applications for renewable energy sources, PVT systems, solar power forecasting, electric vehicle drives, and smart-grid applications. He has also presented research at international conferences in India and abroad, including conferences held in Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
C. Benin Pratap has delivered invited lectures and served as a resource person for FDPs, workshops, seminars, and training programmes at various institutions. His professional activities include membership as a Life Member of the International Association of Engineers. His academic contributions demonstrate continued involvement in renewable energy, solar photovoltaic systems, electric vehicles, power electronics, and related applications through research publications, conference participation, lectures, and professional activities.
