Dr. Immanuel Selvakumar A. is a Professor, Division of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, an M.E. in Power System Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai. He has 20 years of teaching experience and 16 years of research experience, contributing to academic, research, professional, and collaborative activities in the field of electrical engineering.
His research interests include Smart Grids, Electric and Hybrid Vehicles, Soft Computing Techniques, Renewable Energy, Data Mining, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning. His academic and professional activities also include collaboration with Salzer Electronics Private Ltd. He has served as a reviewer for IEEE, IET, and Elsevier journals, contributing to peer-review activities in scholarly publications.
He has 66 Scopus publications and 45 Web of Science publications. His research portfolio includes significant publication activity in areas related to smart grids, electric and hybrid vehicles, renewable energy, intelligent computational techniques, data-driven technologies, and machine learning. He has also attended 17 conferences, 10 FDPs, 20 workshops, and 12 online courses.
Dr. Immanuel Selvakumar has received a funded project titled “Development of Nanocrystalline Materials for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Working at 600°C”, funded by the Central Power Research Institute, Ministry of Power, Government of India, with a funding amount of ₹27,46,000. His recognitions include securing First Rank in his P.G. degree in 2002, receiving the Best Researcher Award from Karunya University in 2013, the NPTEL Super Star Award in 2019, the NPTEL Discipline Star Award in Computer Science Engineering in 2019, and recognition among the Top 2% Scientists in the World according to the study conducted by Stanford University in 2020.
