Ahima Prasad

Ahima Prasad is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Data Science and Cybersecurity, School of Computer Science and Technology, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore. She is currently pursuing an M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Government Engineering College Barton Hill, Thiruvananthapuram, after completing her B.Tech in Information Technology from the same institution and a Diploma in Electronics Engineering from Sree Narayana Polytechnic College, Kottiyam. Her academic journey reflects a strong foundation in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Software Development.

At Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Ahima Prasad is involved in teaching undergraduate courses in the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science programme, currently handling Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing. Her responsibilities include preparing lecture plans, laboratory manuals, assignments, quizzes, and outcome-based assessments, conducting practical laboratory sessions using Python, Jupyter Notebook, and NLP libraries, evaluating student performance through continuous and semester-end assessments, and contributing to curriculum development and departmental academic activities. Prior to joining Karunya, she served as a Software Development Instructor at NxtWave, Hyderabad, where she delivered training in Backend Development, Python Programming, and Generative AI, while mentoring students in software development projects, hackathons, coding assessments, and technical interviews.

Her research and project experience spans Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Cybersecurity, and Agentic AI Systems. She has worked on the development of a secure middleware framework for MCP-based Agentic AI systems with authentication, authorization, audit logging, prompt validation, and API security mechanisms. Her other notable projects include Intrusion Detection Systems using Genetic Algorithm-based feature selection and Machine Learning models, DDoS attack detection using Machine Learning, offensive text detection using hybrid ensemble classifiers with BERT embeddings, and real-time underwater marine creature detection using the YOLOv8 deep learning framework. She has also completed internships in AI/ML at Higbec Private Limited and Web Application Development at KELTRON, gaining practical experience in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, web application development, and software engineering practices.

Ahima Prasad possesses strong technical expertise in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Generative AI, Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI, Prompt Engineering, Explainable AI, Predictive Analytics, Data Science, and Model Optimization.
