Ms. Poonam Anil Moon

Ms. Poonam Anil Moon is an Assistant Professor in Forensic Science at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, with over five years of academic and professional experience in the field of Forensic Science. She holds an M.Sc. in Forensic Science from the Government Institute of Forensic Science, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur, and a B.Sc. in Forensic Science from the same institution. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Forensic Science at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore.

Her research interests include Forensic Science, Forensic Toxicology, Forensic Biology and Serology, Fingerprint and Questioned Document, Crime Scene Investigation, Digital Forensics, and Forensic Microscopy. She has qualified UGC-NET/JRF-equivalent NET examinations in Forensic Science multiple times and has professional experience as a Scientific Officer in digital and cyber forensics. Her academic contributions include research publications, book chapters, conference presentations, and a published patent in forensic science.

Her scholarly contributions include book chapters on DNA profiling techniques, fingerprints, forensic toxicology, and forensic microscopy. She has presented research work at international eConferences, national conferences, seminars, and workshops on topics including pesticide detection, latent fingerprint development using nanoparticles, disguised signatures, α-amylase activity, and age estimation from teeth. She is also a Lifetime Member of the Indian Science Congress Association.

Her patent contribution includes “A Method for Detecting Benzodiazepines in Drink Samples by Employing A Portable Thin Layer Chromatography Kit,” published on 30 May 2025. Her academic and professional work reflects her involvement in forensic science, particularly in the areas of forensic toxicology, forensic biology, digital forensics, forensic microscopy, fingerprints, questioned documents, and crime scene investigation.
