Ms. D. Iyda Jenifer

D. Iyda Jenifer is an Assistant Professor of Forensic Science at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, and a UGC-NET-qualified faculty member. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Forensic Science at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, and holds an M.Sc. in Forensic Science and a B.Sc. in Forensic Science from the same institution. She secured First Rank in her Master’s degree in Forensic Science.

Her research interests include Forensic Psychology, Forensic Biology and Serology, Fingerprinting, and Toxicology. Her academic and research interests also encompass forensic toxicology, fingerprint analysis, forensic biology, forensic entomology, questioned documents, and crime scene investigation. Her research focuses on developing innovative, sustainable, and application-oriented approaches to forensic evidence analysis. She is engaged in teaching, research, laboratory training, and contemporary forensic science education and practices.

Her research contributions include publications on advanced materials for latent fingerprint detection and digital death investigation. She has presented papers at national and international conferences on topics including substance use and aggression in schizophrenia, forensic anthropology, digital death investigation, and entomotoxicological impacts on insect colonization and development. She received the Best Paper Award for her work on the entomotoxicological impact of paraquat poisoning and covering materials on insect colonization and development at an international conference in 2026.

She has qualified UGC-NET in December 2024 for Assistant Professor eligibility and in June 2024 for admission to a Ph.D. programme. She also qualified the FACT Exam 2026 and FACT Plus Exam 2026 in Forensic Biology and Serology. Her academic profile reflects contributions to forensic science research and education, particularly in forensic biology, serology, toxicology, fingerprint analysis, forensic entomology, questioned documents, and crime scene investigation.
