Dr. S. Shirly

Dr. S. Shirly is an Assistant Professor (Regular) in Computer Science and Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She joined the institution on 16/08/2021. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University (2020), an M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University (2015), and a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University (2013).

Her research interests include Medical Image Processing, Internet of Things, and Natural Language Processing. She has contributed 7 international journal publications and 7 international/national conference publications, with 44 Scopus citations, 40 Google Scholar citations, and an h-index of 3. She has also authored the textbook “Research Methodology,” published by JEC Publication in 2023.

Dr. Shirly is actively involved in research guidance, with one ongoing Ph.D. thesis under her supervision and four completed Master’s theses. Her research and academic interests are complemented by her teaching expertise in Data Structures and Algorithms, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Web Technology, Python Programming, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality, Problem Solving and Python Programming, Data Visualization, and Soft Skills.

She has been serving as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences since 2021. Prior to this, she worked as a Guest Lecturer in the Master of Computer Applications programme at Bharathiar University from 2020 to 2021. Her academic experience combines teaching and research in computer science, with particular emphasis on emerging areas such as medical image processing, IoT, and natural language processing.
