Dr. S. Salaja is a Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology & Sciences, with extensive academic experience in teaching, research, and technology-oriented projects. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Karunya Institute of Technology & Sciences, a Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Madras. She joined Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences in March 2004 and has served the institution in various academic positions, including Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor (SG), Associate Professor, and Professor.

Her area of interest includes Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Quantum Computing, Wireless Sensor Networks, Software Defined Networks, and Data Analytics. Her teaching interests encompass Quantum Computing, Computational Linguistics, Software Defined Networks, Compiler Design, Theory of Computation, Data Analytics, Optimization Methodologies, Intelligent Systems, Wireless Sensor Networks, and Advanced Algorithms. Her academic interests span emerging areas of intelligent computing, advanced networking, data-driven technologies, and next-generation computational systems.

Dr. S. Salaja has made significant contributions to research through 36 international journal publications, 61 international and national conference publications, and 11 book chapters. Her research publications have received 577 Scopus citations and 838 Google Scholar citations, with an h-index of 13. She has been granted a patent for “AI System for Post-Crash Care on Road Traffic Injuries” under Indian Patent Application No. 202141007237, and another patent application, “Intelligent Speech Assistive System for Voiceless People,” has been published. Her research projects include ICMR-funded projects on health-care service selection and post-crash care for road traffic injuries, with funding of ₹14,83,880 and ₹15,52,691, respectively. She has also undertaken a consultancy project on Agentic AI Based Applications with Nycolo.ai, valued at ₹2,70,000 from 2025 onwards. Her research guidance includes four completed and ten ongoing Ph.D. theses, along with 15 completed and one ongoing Master’s thesis.

Dr. S. Salaja has also contributed to the academic and research community as an editorial board member of Discover Computing and Scientific Reports from 2025 onwards. Her professional development includes Microsoft Azure AZ-900 certification, an IBM Knowledge Badge in Data Science, and courses in Generative AI Essentials, Generative AI: Prompt Engineering, and Google AI Essentials. With more than two decades of academic experience, her contributions in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, quantum computing, networking, research projects, patents, publications, and research supervision demonstrate a strong and sustained academic and research profile in Computer Science and Engineering.
