Dr. R. Karthik

Dr. R. Karthik is an Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, where he joined in May 2024. He holds a Ph.D. and M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University and a B.E. in Information Technology from Bharathidasan University. His academic experience includes teaching and academic roles at several institutions in Computer Science and Engineering.

His research interests include Computer Networks and Artificial Intelligence. His teaching interests encompass Python Programming, Data Science, Data Structures and Algorithms, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Computer Networks, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, C Programming, Deep Learning, and Cyber Law and Ethics. He has contributed to research through 17 international journal publications and 10 international/national conference publications.

Dr. Karthik has 11 Scopus citations, 32 Google Scholar citations, and an h-index of 3. He has three published Indian patent applications covering machine-learning-based doctor appointment and disease prediction, automatic salt segmentation using UNET and deep learning, and an IoT-enabled smart door and sanitizing system with COVID symptom detection. He is also the author of the textbook Cyber Security, published by Scientific International Publishing House (SIPH) in 2023.

He has guided 4 completed Master of Engineering theses. His professional academic experience includes serving as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at Sri Krishna College of Technology, Assistant Professor at SCAD Institute of Technology, S. Veersamy Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, and SVS College of Engineering, and Lecturer at Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology and Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology. He has also served as a reviewer for Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing and the International Journal of Communication Systems (WILEY).
