Dr. P. Eben Sophia

Dr. P. Eben Sophia is an Assistant Professor (Regular) in Computer Science and Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Medical Imaging and Processing and an M.Tech. in VLSI from Karunya University, along with a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Anna University. She joined Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences in November 2022 and has academic experience in both Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Her research interests include Medical Image Processing, Biomedical Signal Analysis, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Medical Diagnostics, Cancer Prognosis and Severity Prediction, Deep Learning, High-Performance Computing, Neural Network Architecture Design, Image Compression and Reconstruction, Explainable AI, and Multimodal Data Fusion in Translational Oncology. She has contributed 12 international journal publications and 10 international/national conference publications, with 69 Scopus citations, 109 Google Scholar citations, and an h-index of 7.

Dr. Eben Sophia is currently guiding four Ph.D. theses. Her research contributions include the published patent application System and Method for the Classification of Prosthetic Hand Movements Using Deep Learning Techniques (2026). She also worked on the research project Automated Skin Cancer Prognosis: Prediction and Severity Identification System in Dermatological Diagnostics, supported by the Karunya Short-Term Research Grant with funding of Rs. 50,000 during 2024–2025.

Her teaching interests span Data Structures and Algorithms, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Advanced Algorithms, Cyber Physical Systems, Programming and AI/ML, Computer Organization and Architecture, Image Processing, Digital Design, Electronic Circuitry, Computer Networking, Internet of Things, Medical Electronics, Microwave Engineering, Analog and Digital Communication Techniques, and Deep Learning. Her academic experience includes serving as an Assistant Professor at Karpagam College of Engineering and Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences.
