Dr. J. Anitha

Dr. J. Anitha is a Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with extensive academic experience in teaching, research, consultancy, and technology-oriented projects. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Karunya University, an M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from M.S. University, and a B.Tech. in Information Technology from Noorul Islam College of Engineering. She joined Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences on 24 January 2007 and has served in various academic positions, including Lecturer and Assistant Professor, progressing to the position of Associate Professor.

Her area of interest includes Computer Vision, Data Science, Medical Image Processing, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning. Her teaching interests encompass Python Programming, Data Science, Object-Oriented Programming in Java, Web Technology, Machine Learning Techniques, C# and .NET Programming, and Programming for Problem Solving. Her academic and research interests focus on intelligent computing, image analysis, data-driven technologies, and machine learning-based applications.

Dr. J. Anitha has contributed significantly to research through 22 international journal publications and 45 international and national conference publications. Her research publications have received 524 Scopus citations and 823 Google Scholar citations, with an h-index of 11. She has undertaken a research project titled “Design and Development of an Adaptive Brain Computer Interface (BCI) Based Assistive Tool for Paralytic People,” funded by DST–India with a project value of Rs. 38.84 lakhs during 2019–2023. Her consultancy contributions include a Rural Agriculture Work Experience Automation System for the Division of Agriculture at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences and Automation Software for Material Handling for Karunya Central Stores. Her research guidance includes one completed and eight ongoing Ph.D. theses, along with ten completed Master’s theses.

With extensive experience in Computer Science and Engineering, Dr. J. Anitha has made sustained contributions to teaching, research, consultancy, and academic activities. Her research project on an assistive Brain Computer Interface, consultancy projects in automation, substantial publication record, citation impact, and research supervision demonstrate her active engagement with applied and interdisciplinary computing research. She has also completed a Summer Industry Experience Faculty Internship at Conevo Technologies Private Limited, Chennai, in 2019, further complementing her academic and professional experience.
