Dr. G. Naveen Sundar

Dr. G. Naveen Sundar is an Associate Professor (Regular) in Computer Science and Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University, an M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Karunya University, and a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. His research interests include Computer Vision, Data Science, Medical Image Processing, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.

He has been associated with Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences since 2006, serving as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and Associate Professor in Computer Science and Engineering. His teaching interests include Computer Architecture, Python Programming, Machine Learning, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Knowledge Management, C# and .NET Programming, Advanced Computer Architecture, and Python for Data Science.

His research contributions include 35 international journal publications and 29 international/national conference publications. He has received 67 Scopus citations and 102 Google Scholar citations, with an h-index of 6. He has guided 13 Master of Engineering theses to completion and is currently guiding 7 Ph.D. scholars. His research and academic interests encompass computer vision, medical image processing, data science, machine learning, and deep learning.

He has contributed to the research project HALECOM, funded by Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, USA, with funding of Rs. 60,000 in 2018. He is also the inventor of the published Indian patent application Target Protein Prediction for Infectious Diseases, Indian Patent Application No. 202141057926 (2021). He authored the textbook Problem Solving using Python, published by Charulatha Publisher in 2024, and holds the IBM Artificial Intelligence Practitioner Certificate V2 and Infosys Campus Connect certification.
