Mr. S. Basil Xavier

Mr. S. Basil Xavier is an Assistant Professor (Regular) with expertise in Cyber Security, Internet of Things, Multimedia, and Digital Marketing. He holds an M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from Karunya University (2012) and a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University (2010). He has been associated with Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences since 05/08/2013 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in IoT Security at Karunya University.

His research contributions include 6 international journal publications and 10 international/national conference publications, with 3 Scopus citations, 41 Google Scholar citations, and an h-index of 3. His research interests span Cyber Security, IoT, Multimedia, and Digital Marketing. He has also filed a patent titled “Women Safety Wearable Device,” which was published in January 2021.

He has undertaken a CSR-funded research project titled “A Model for Sustainable Livelihood through Self-Employment,” funded by Gislen Software, with a project amount of Rs. 1,00,000 during 2023–2024. He has also guided 10 Master’s theses, contributing to postgraduate research and academic development.

His teaching interests include Robotics, IoT, Cyber Forensics, Data and Information Security, Information Security, Cloud Computing and IoT, Security in Computing, Multimedia and System Design, Robotic Process Automation, and Fundamentals of Human-Computer Interaction. His professional development includes certifications in Google Certificate Tester, Instagram Marketing, Digital Forensics Essentials (DFE), and Generative AI Fundamentals.
