Dr. D. Mahila Vasanthi Thangam

Dr. D. Mahila Vasanthi Thangam is an Associate Professor and Head of the Division of Commerce and International Trade at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with over 26 years of teaching, 2 years of industry, and 23 years of research experience. Her expertise encompasses Banking, Financial Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship, with extensive experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses. She has supervised 30 M.Phil. and 4 Ph.D. scholars, with three doctoral candidates currently pursuing research under her guidance. Her academic contributions include a patent, 38 research publications in national and international journals, and active participation in numerous conferences, faculty development programmes, and collaborative research initiatives.

Dr. Mahila Vasanthi Thangam has established a strong research profile through her work in banking, financial inclusion, entrepreneurship, digital finance, marketing, and sustainable development. She has published 34 international and 4 national research papers and presented 33 papers at national and international conferences. She has guided research scholars across Alagappa University, Bharathiar University, and Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, contributing significantly to postgraduate and doctoral research. Her scholarly work is complemented by a patent in environmental science on smart waste management and continued collaboration with academic and research institutions.

With a distinguished academic career spanning multiple institutions, Dr. Mahila Vasanthi Thangam has held several leadership positions before assuming her current role as Head of the Division.
