Dr. D. Tensing is a Professor in the Division of Civil Engineering, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with extensive expertise in Structural Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. from PSG College of Technology, Bharathiar University, an M.E. in Structural Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Bharathiar University, and a B.Tech. from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai Kamarajar University. His research interests focus on steel structures, composite structures, and fibre-reinforced structures.
His teaching expertise encompasses a wide range of structural and civil engineering subjects, including Design of Steel Structures, Advanced Design of Concrete and Steel Structures, Prestressed Concrete Structures, Structural Analysis, Strength of Materials, Engineering Mechanics, Advanced Concrete Technology, and Advanced Design of Concrete Bridges. He has also taught subjects related to fluid mechanics, hydraulic machinery, optimization techniques, estimation and costing, water supply engineering, sewage and sewerage engineering, building materials, and building drawing.
Dr. Tensing has contributed to research in areas including dynamic behaviour of masonry-infilled reinforced concrete frames, structural control using MR dampers, bamboo reinforcement in concrete, and confined steel-concrete column behaviour. His recent publications include studies on equivalent strut width for wire-meshed masonry-infilled RC frames, MR fluid-based damping systems, modelling and control of RCC frames with MR dampers, bamboo reinforcement in concrete, and steel-concrete columns with bolted shear connectors.
He is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and has contributed as an Editor/Member of an Editorial Board and as a reviewer for an Elsevier journal. His academic and professional contributions reflect his expertise in structural design, advanced construction materials, and innovative structural systems.
