Dr. Reya Issac, M.Tech., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor who joined the institution on 18/06/2007. She completed her B.Tech. in 2002, M.Tech. in 2005, and Ph.D. in 2015.
Her teaching areas include Bioprocess Principles, Bioprocess Engineering, Enzyme Engineering and Technology, Downstream Processing, and Process Equipment Design. Her research interests include wastewater treatment, enzyme production and optimization, struvite production from wastewater, bio-fertilizer production, and production of paper and bioplastics.
Her recent research publications focus on laccase-based biodegradation of low-density polyethylene and textile industrial effluent dyes, removal of hexavalent chromium from paint industry effluent using biochar, tissue adhesives, antioxidant and antimicrobial benefits of nutmeg, health benefits of bishop's weed, and biofuel production from photosynthetic microorganisms. These contributions have been published in journals including Journal of Pure and Applied Microbiology, International Journal of Scientific and Technology Research, and Drug Invention Today.
Dr. Reya Issac has obtained funding from TNSCST for a student project on hexavalent chromium removal from tannery sludge. She is a member of IICHE. Her academic and research profile focuses on bioprocess engineering, wastewater treatment, enzyme production and optimization, resource recovery from wastewater, bio-fertilizer production, and the development of paper and bioplastic materials.
