Dr. M.S.A. Muthukumar Nadar, M.Sc., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor who joined the institution on 06/11/2011. He obtained his Ph.D. from National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan, in 2010, M.Sc. from Madurai Kamaraj University in 1999, and B.Sc. from St. Joseph's College, Bharathidasan University, in 1997.
His teaching areas include Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Stem Cell Technology, and Virology. His research interests focus on molecular virology, immunology, phytotherapeutics and wound healing, and health and nutritional studies in tribal populations.
His recent research publications cover areas including apoptosis triggered by untranslated regions of Classical Swine Fever Virus RNA, structure-activity relationship studies of curcumin analogues for anti-influenza virus activity, HuR binding to AU-rich elements in the untranslated region of Classical Swine Fever Virus, the wound-healing efficacy of Lobelia alsinoides ethanolic extract, and oral disease prevalence among a tribal population in the Siruvani foothills of Coimbatore.
Dr. M.S.A. Muthukumar Nadar has patent applications related to the wound-healing ointment Lobicure, a polyherbal ointment for skin ailments, and the KaViD – Karunya Disinfection Chamber. He is a member of the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI) and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG).
