Dr. Jissin Mathew

Dr. Jissin Mathew, M.Sc., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Biotechnology, School of Agriculture and Biosciences, KITS. He joined the institution on 17/08/2021. He obtained his Ph.D. from Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences in 2021, M.Sc. from Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences in 2015, and B.Sc. from St. Mary's College for Women in 2013.

His research interests include microbiology, microbial biotechnology, entomology, nematology, and animal tissue culture. His academic and research work focuses on microbial and biological approaches involving microorganisms, entomopathogenic nematodes, insect-related studies, and animal tissue culture.

His recent research publications cover areas such as biogenic larvicidal formulations using metabolites from Steinernema saimkayi symbiont Xenorhabdus stockiae against the dengue vector Aedes aegypti, anticancer activity of defense peptides from Galleria mellonella against cervical HeLa cancer cells, isolation and mass production of the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema saimkayai, and dengue virus clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment, and strategies to limit mosquito spread.
