Dr. T. Jesse Joel Thathapudi

Dr. Jesse Joel Thathapudi, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor who joined the institution on 08/10/2012. He obtained his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences (SHUATS), Allahabad, in 2011, M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology from Periyar University in 2002, and B.Tech. with a triple major in Microbiology, Chemistry and Botany from Nagarjuna University, Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada, in 2000.

His teaching areas include Microbiology, Molecular Forensics, Vaccine Technology, Microbial Biotechnology, and Molecular Diagnostics. His research interests include oral microbiology involving human and animal clinical samples, ameliorative effects of biological compounds, plant phytochemical studies, biomaterials, and neurodegeneration.

His recent research publications cover areas such as biogenic synthesis of silver nanoparticles using marine algae and their apoptotic effects on human colon cancer cells, distribution of oral microflora among children affected by dental caries, cytotoxicity of secondary metabolites from waste pomegranate rind against oral cancer cells, therapeutic properties of medicinal plants and their bioactive compounds, and oral microbiology and dental decay. His research contributions have appeared in journals, books, and edited volumes published by Taylor & Francis, Springer Nature, CRC Press, and River Publishers.

Dr. Jesse Joel Thathapudi has handled a project on microbial load determination and effluent treatment at the Water Institute, Karunya University, and has contributed to the patent application for the KaViD – Karunya Disinfection Chamber. He is a life member of the Association of Microbiologists of India, an apex life member of the International Science Congress Association (ISCA), and a life member of the International Association of Engineering (IAENG).
