Dr. David Paul Raj R. S., M.Sc., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor who joined the institution on 06/01/2010. He obtained his Ph.D. and M.Sc. from the University of Madras in 2003 and 1999 respectively, and his B.Sc. from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in 1997.
His teaching areas include Bioanalytical Techniques, Research Methodology and IPR, Food Supply Chain Management, Pollution Control and Engineering, and Basic Industrial Biotechnology. His research interests include herbal medicine, plant tissue culture, and sustainable agriculture.
His recent research publications cover areas such as clinical evaluation of selected Siddha regimens for COVID-19 management, development of banana peel powder as an organic carrier-based bioformulation for plant growth promotion in rice, production of anti-snake venom triterpenoids through plant tissue culture and suspension culture, evaluation of herbal and bioformulations for biocontrol of root rot pathogen in tomato, and evaluation of antihypercholesterolemic effects of plant extracts.
Dr. David Paul Raj R. S. has handled research projects including a KITS Seed Money Research Grant project on the development of organic carrier-based bioformulation for plant growth promotion in rice and an externally funded ACMA project on in vitro production of anti-snake venom triterpenoid taraxerol through plant cell suspension culture of Euphorbia hirta. He has published/granted patents related to banana peel powder-based bioformulation, enhanced production of anti-snake venom compounds from Euphorbia hirta, and seed coating with bioformulation for biocontrol of damping-off disease. He is a life member of the Association of Microbiologists of India.
