Dr. P. Manimegalai

Dr. P. Manimegalai is an Associate Professor, Division of Biomedical Engineering, at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, with 20 years of experience. Her research interests include Biosignal Processing, Medical Device Design, Image Processing, and AI in Healthcare. She has research profiles in Google Scholar and Scopus.

She completed her Ph.D. in Information and Communication/Biosignal Processing from Anna University, Chennai, in June 2013 through part-time mode, her M.E. in Applied Electronics from Anna University, Chennai, in June 2008 with First Class through part-time mode, and her B.E. in Biomedical Instrumentation from Avinashilingam University in May 2000 with First Class through full-time mode. Her teaching interests include Diagnostic and Therapeutic Devices, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Biomedical Medical Image Processing, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.

Her research projects include a low-cost CPAP machine funded by Harvard University with Rs. 20,000 in 2021, a VR-based training system for post-stroke rehabilitation funded by ICMR with Rs. 14 lakhs in 2023, and Demask — a biowaste management kiosk — funded by ICMR with Rs. 10 lakhs in 2023. Her research outputs also include a published low-cost portable CPAP, a published wearable CPAP for altitude sickness, and Smart Cradle Companion.

During 2009–2021, she published 10 international journal papers, 4 international conference papers, and 28 national conference papers, with a cumulative impact factor of 5, 4.1 Scopus citations, 560 Google Scholar citations, and an h-index of 15. Her research guidance includes 15 completed and 8 ongoing Ph.D. thesis advisings, along with 18 completed and 1 ongoing Master's thesis advising.
