Dr. D. Sujitha Juliet

Dr. D. Sujitha Juliet is a Professor and Head of the Division of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences (Deemed to be University), completed in September 2014, a Master’s degree from Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, affiliated to Anna University, completed in December 2002, and a Bachelor’s degree from Karunya Institute of Technology, affiliated to Bharathiar University, completed in April 2001. She has served as a research supervisor at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences since April 2015.

Her research interests include Intelligent Models, Medical Image Analysis, Multimodal Machine Learning, AI-based Text Analysis, and Indoor Navigation Systems. Her teaching interests span Artificial Intelligence – Principles and Techniques, Intelligent Systems, Machine Learning Techniques, Natural Language Processing, Software Engineering, and AI for Mechanical Systems, reflecting a sustained engagement with emerging areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Dr. D. Sujitha Juliet has published 107 research articles in reputed journals and international conferences indexed by Scopus, with 816 Scopus citations and an h-index of 14. She has authored book chapters in the areas of Telemedicine, Emotion Recognition, and Medical Image Analysis, published with Taylor & Francis Group, Wiley, and Elsevier. Her patent contributions include inventions related to Locust Trapping, Industrial Indoor Asset Positioning and Navigation, Cervical Cancer Screening, and Wearable Indian Sign Language Translation. She has completed research projects worth Rs. 46,42,797, including work on Industrial Indoor Asset Positioning and Navigation and Cervical Cancer Screening. Five of her scholars have completed their Ph.D., and she is currently guiding eight research scholars in areas including Human Activity Recognition, Feature Extraction and Classification of Medical Images, Early Prediction of Brain Tumors, and Intelligent Indoor Positioning Systems. She has also served as a reviewer for international journals and conferences.
