Dr. Sarmila K. B

Dr. Sarmila K. B is an Assistant Professor at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Information Engineering from Anna University, completed in 2025, a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Anna University, completed in 2014, and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Anna University, completed in 2012. She has been serving at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences since June 2026 and previously served as an Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) at Sri Eshwar College of Engineering and as an Assistant Professor at KGiSL Institute of Technology.

Her research interests include Cryptography and Network Security, Lightweight and IoT Security, and Artificial Intelligence. Her teaching interests include Data Structures, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Programming in C, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing, and Artificial Intelligence.

Dr. Sarmila K. B has published 3 international journal articles and 7 international conference papers, with 19 Scopus citations, 26 Google Scholar citations, and an h-index of 2. Her intellectual property contributions include a granted patent for an Automatic Gas Leakage Detection and Alerting System and patent applications concerning quantum-resistant cloud storage, smart backpack monitoring, elevator monitoring, RFID authentication, collision prevention, and SIM card technology.

Dr. Sarmila K. B has guided 1 Master of Engineering student and 8 Bachelor of Engineering students to completion and is currently guiding 7 undergraduate students. Her academic and research expertise in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, cryptography, IoT security, and cloud computing supports her contributions to teaching, research, and student guidance in the Division of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences.
