Dr. J. Dinesh Peter is a Professor and Head (IAESTE) and Head (International Affairs) at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Calicut, completed in 2010, a Master’s degree in Computer and Information Technology from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, completed in 2005, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Bharathiar University, completed in 2001.
His research interests include Digital Image Processing and Machine Learning Models. His teaching interests span Cyber Physical Systems, Pattern Matching and Anomaly Detection, Software Engineering, Cyber Forensics, Digital Image Processing, Principles of Industry 4.0, and Artificial Intelligence, reflecting his academic and research engagement with image processing, machine learning, and emerging technologies in computing.
Dr. J. Dinesh Peter has published 66 international journal publications and 22 international and national conference publications, with 772 Scopus citations, 1,288 Google Scholar citations, and an h-index of 13, as of October 2024. His research contributions include an ICMR patent for a device and method for the design and development of a medical glove for hand tremor management caused by Parkinson’s disease. He also serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing. He has guided 10 Ph.D. scholars, 10 Master of Engineering scholars, and 18 Bachelor of Engineering scholars to completion and is currently guiding five Ph.D. scholars. His professional experience includes serving as Head of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Head of International Affairs, Head of IAESTE, Professor, and previously Head of Information Technology.
With extensive experience in teaching, research, administration, and academic leadership, Dr. J. Dinesh Peter has built a strong profile in image processing and machine learning. His publication record, patent, editorial role, and sustained doctoral and postgraduate guidance reflect his continued contribution to the Division of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences.
