Dr. S. Venkatachalam

Dr. S. Venkatachalam is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, having joined the institution on 3 June 2019. He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, an M.E. in Aeronautical Engineering from Park College of Engineering and Technology, and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Madras.

Dr. Venkatachalam has 13 years of teaching experience, 5 years of industry experience, and 8 years of research experience. His area of specialization is the mechanical characterization of conventional and composite materials, with research interests in aerospace structures, fatigue damage evaluation, digital image correlation, fracture characteristics of composite materials, anisotropy in ultra-fine grained materials, and functionally graded materials. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Strength of Materials, Aircraft Structures, Structural Vibration, Finite Element Methods, and Experimental Stress Analysis.

His research contributions include publications indexed in Scopus and presentations at national and international conferences. He has also delivered guest lectures, attended Faculty Development Programmes, and guided undergraduate research projects, contributing to the advancement of aerospace structures and material characterization research.

Dr. Venkatachalam serves as the Academic Coordinator, Eduserve Coordinator, and Timetable Coordinator for the Division. Through his combined expertise in teaching, research, and academic administration, he actively supports the Division's academic and research activities in aerospace engineering.
