Dr. Sushanlal Babu is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, having joined the institution on 5 May 2023. He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, an M.E. in Thermal Engineering from Cochin University of Science and Technology, a Ph.D. in Turbomachinery from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, and completed his Post-Doctoral research at IIT Bombay.
Dr. Sushanlal Babu has teaching, industry, and research experience with specialization in Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, and Turbomachinery. His research focuses on compressor and turbine blade passage aerodynamics, flow instabilities in axial compressors, gas turbine blade cooling, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). He teaches core aerospace subjects including Aerodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Boundary Layer Theory, and Engineering Thermodynamics.
His research contributions include publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, along with presentations at national and international conferences. He has guided postgraduate and undergraduate student projects and actively contributes to research in aerodynamics and turbomachinery through his academic and research activities.
Dr. Sushanlal Babu received the MHRD Fellowship for his doctoral research and the Institute Fellowship for his post-doctoral studies. He currently serves as the In-charge of the Aerodynamics Laboratory, supporting practical education and research in aerospace engineering.
