Dr. Prawin Angel Michael

Dr. Prawin Angel Michael is an Associate Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, having joined the institution on 1 April 2004. She holds a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bharathiar University, an M.E. in Power Electronics and Drives from Anna University, a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Anna University, and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in LiDAR Technology at IIT Tirupati Navavishkar I-Hub Foundation (IITTNiF) in 2025. She has over 21 years of teaching experience and specializes in Electronics and Drives, Communication Protocols, and LiDAR Technologies.

Her research focuses on avionics communication interfaces, LiDAR technologies, renewable energy, and nanomaterials. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Aircraft Instrumentation and Avionics, Aircraft Materials, Advanced Avionics, Data Analytics and Visualization, and Modelling and Simulation of Aircraft Vehicles.

Her research contributions include publications indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and other recognized databases, along with presentations at numerous national and international conferences. She has guided three Ph.D. scholars, is currently supervising seven doctoral researchers, and has mentored 25 postgraduate and 35 undergraduate projects. She has also secured multiple funded research and consultancy projects, holds two granted Indian patents, and is an active member of several professional societies.

Dr. Prawin Angel Michael has received several recognitions, including the Best Achiever Award from Karunya University, authorization as a National Entrepreneurship Network faculty trainer, and a Summer Faculty Fellowship at IIT Tirupati. She serves as the Division Research Coordinator, CCM In-charge, NAAC/NBA Accreditation Coordinator, Ph.D. Admission Coordinator, and contributes to institutional committees including the Women Redressal Cell and Anti-Ragging Committee, supporting academic excellence and research development.
