Dr. G. Jims John Wessley is an Associate Professor and Officer on Special Duty in the Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor – A&IC at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, having joined the institution on 17 June 2005. He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, an M.E. in Thermal Engineering from Bharathiar University, a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, and an MBA in Human Resource Management from IGNOU.
Dr. Jims John Wessley has 19 years of teaching experience and specializes in Solar Energy Utilization and Heat Transfer, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and Polymer Composites. His research focuses on UAVs for agricultural applications and composite materials. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses including Basics of Aerospace Engineering, Aircraft Systems, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Unmanned Aerial Systems, and Thermodynamics & Heat Transfer.
His research contributions include publications indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and other recognized databases, along with presentations at national and international conferences. He has one Indian patent, is currently guiding six Ph.D. scholars, and has supervised six postgraduate and eighteen undergraduate research projects. He is also a life member of several professional bodies, including the Institution of Engineers (India), the Solar Energy Society of India, the Indian Desalination Association, and the Indian Society for Technical Education.
Dr. Jims John Wessley has received several recognitions, including the Innovative Research in Aerospace Engineering and Dedicated Teaching Professional Award, the Best Poster Award at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, and the Rotaract Club Presidential Award. He has served as the Head of the Division of Aerospace Engineering, Programme Coordinator, and Administrative Coordinator, and also contributes as a reviewer for ISA Transactions published by Elsevier.
