Dr. Kampa Ashirvadam, M.Tech., Ph.D
Dr. Kampa Ashirvadam is Professor and Head of the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. With over 31 years of research experience, he specializes in combustion instability and aero-acoustics, focusing on gas turbine engine afterburners. He has guided research scholars and received the Best Paper Award at the ASME Conference, IIT Kharagpur.
Dr. G. Jims John Wessley is an Associate Professor and Officer on Special Duty in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with 19 years of teaching experience. His expertise spans unmanned aerial vehicles, polymer composites, solar energy utilization, and heat transfer, with research focused on UAVs for agricultural applications. He has published extensively, guided doctoral and postgraduate research, and has held key academic leadership roles, including Head of the Division of Aerospace Engineering.
Dr. Prawin Angel Michael is an Associate Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with over 21 years of teaching experience. She specializes in avionics communication interfaces, LiDAR technologies, power electronics, and renewable energy, with research focused on advanced avionics, LiDAR applications, and communication protocols. Her work is supported by significant research grants, patents, and extensive postgraduate and doctoral research guidance.
S. Venkatachalam is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with 13 years of teaching, 5 years of industry, and 8 years of research experience. His specialization is in the mechanical characterization of conventional and composite materials, with research focusing on digital image correlation, fatigue analysis, structural integrity, and advanced material behavior. He also serves as the Academic, Eduserve, and Timetable Coordinator for the Division.
Dr. Aldin Justin Sundararaj is an Assistant Professor (S.G.) in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with 14 years of teaching and research experience. He specializes in propulsion, ignition, combustion, shock waves, and energetic propellants, with research supported by multiple DRDO-funded projects, patents, and extensive publications. He actively guides research scholars, contributes to consultancy with DRDO, and leads key academic, accreditation, and laboratory initiatives within the Division.
Dr. K. Anton Savio Lewise is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with 10 years of teaching and 2.5 years of research experience. He specializes in propulsion, aircraft systems, aerospace materials, and aircraft manufacturing, with research focused on material science, composite materials, manufacturing technology, and friction welding. He has published extensively and coordinates key accreditation activities while overseeing the Aircraft Systems Laboratory and Aeromodelling Club.
Dr. R. Ajith Raj is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with 10 years of teaching and 8 years of research experience. He specializes in aerospace materials, propulsion, and aircraft maintenance, with research focused on material science, dissimilar metal joints, electron beam welding, and unmanned aircraft systems. He has published extensively, holds multiple Indian and foreign patent applications, and serves as an Innovation Ambassador for IPR and Technology Transfer under MHRD IIC.
Dr. C. Bazil Wilfred is an Assistant Professor (AGP 8000) in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. He is actively engaged in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses, combining classroom instruction with hands-on laboratory and project guidance.
Dr. Sushanlal Babu is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, specializing in aerodynamics, turbomachinery, computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics. His research focuses on compressor and turbine aerodynamics, flow instabilities, and gas turbine blade cooling. He has published research in reputed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and serves as the In-charge of the Aerodynamics Laboratory.
Dr. R. Gayathri is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with 10 years of teaching experience. She specializes in aircraft design, vibration analysis, and structural health monitoring, with research focused on structural integrity and vibration analysis of aerospace structures, supported by seed-funded projects. She contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate mentoring while coordinating academic and student development activities within the Division.
V.R. Levi Reuben is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, specializing in aerodynamics and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). His research focuses on reducing vortex shedding in vertical axis wind turbines, rotor aerodynamics, fluid–structure interactions, and renewable energy systems. He teaches core aerospace subjects, has presented research at international conferences, and actively mentors undergraduate student projects.
Mr. Kesavan M is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Aerospace Engineering at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with 11 years of teaching and research experience. He specializes in gas turbine engines, rocket propulsion, high-speed aerodynamics, and combustion, with research focused on ignition, combustion, and propellants, supported by patents and a DST-funded project. He also serves as the Academic Coordinator and MOOC Coordinator while mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students.
