The volunteers made arrangement for all the programs on the day.

At the very outset we thank God for getting an opportunity to study in Karunya University, a University blessed by God. We also thank God for getting an opportunity to work under NSS. For years NSS is trying to inculcate among the youth the good qualities of charity, affection, sympathy, morality and other human qualities among the youth and especially among the college students. As such we the students of Bio-technology, Bio-informatics and Civil Engineering Branches of Karunya University planned to visit an orphanage under the auspicious of NSS. On August 15, 2008, on the 62nd Independence Day of India we about 50 students visited Lawerance & Margarate orphanage at Tondamuthur. We started at 10 am by college bus after the breakfast and prayer. There were five teachers to guide us. After half an hour of pleasant journey we reached the orphanage. The in-charge of the orphanage with about 100 inmates welcomed us with cheers.
We spent a full day at the orphanage by teaching the orphan girls songs and dances. We with the inmates of the orphanage sang songs, danced, played and exchanged ideas. The inmates were very happy with our presence and they enjoyed well. To us also it was a memorable day and was a great experience. Though we were also enjoyed, most of us were moved by the love and affection showed by the inmates of the orphanage and we felt immensely while departing the orphanage. We were thanking God for supplying us with all needs like air, water, food, clothing, wealth,  good health, shelter, education etc. We were moved by the inability of the orphans to think, act and behave like us. We had a feeling that we must be very kind, polite and must be helping to the physically challenged section in our community. Jesus said, if we are serving the poor in the society we are serving God. With mixed feelings, filth with sympathy we reached Karunya Campus at 5 pm, we thank God for all His gifts and prayed to give us a feeling to serve the needy.
