On August 28, 2008 NSS unit of Karunya University and in association with Eye Foundation, Coimbatore conducted a free eye camp for the students of the University. Mr. Arvindhas Singh, (optometrist) Mr. D. James, (optometrist) Mr. Ebiraja, (organists) The members of the eye foundation where welcomed by Dr. Selvaraj (Director of Science and Humanities) to the campsite. The NSS volunteers (Unit I) made arrangements according to the comfort of the optometrist for their proceedings .The camp started at 10:00 am and the NSS volunteers were mobilizing students from various departments to the camp. Students with various problems in their vision attended the camp and doubts of many where also clarified. The optometrist who attended the students was 5yrs experienced in this field. The 1st session was ended at 1:00 pm for the lunch. After the lunch the second section started by 2:00 pm. Our NSS coordinator and staff members guided the student volunteers in making the camp more effective. The camp was ended at 5:00 pm with a good overturn of 670 Karunyan students, out of which 214 students had deficiencies in their eyesight.

The Eye Foundation offered concession for further treatments and operations. The students thanked the Eye Foundation team and NSS unit for conducting such helpful camps for the students &staffs.
