I look back the moment which gave an abrupt turn to where I stand today. That moment while I selected the department- Electronics & Media Technology to pursue my B.Tech , I just listened to my instincts. I always wanted to learn Electronics and was interested in creative studies as well. Having blend of both technical and creative aspects this department provided me the platform to keep growing. I just wonder how it could be so perfect for me! My tenure of four years in Karunya was just like a glimpse of heaven. The department inculcated values within me which got unfolded as I got exposed to the outside world. The values proved efficacious. Many a times I see torts happening in the corporate world but I find myself standing apart from the crowd. I’ll be always indebt to the department for shaping me so unique. At present I am working for WIPRO Technologies as a Project Engineer. I thank all my staffs, classmates and my dear friends for all the help and support. I am honored to be a part of the department.

It was a great experience of four valuable years in karunya which has made me molded up to what i am. The lessons i had learned there could be relished by me only after getting practical applications of it in real time which is a much upgraded version than it is thought. Miss those lovely days as a media family in karunya but happy to see a tree of media techies extending its fruits over the world. Proud to be an karunyan and a media techie..

I stepped into Karunya, with half a mind choosing between Media Technology and CSE. There was no clear answer as to which was best for me. My dad allowed me to make my decision. I took a chance and opted for Media Technology (as it was known then), and what can I say. I’m just so thankful to God for helping me take the right decision. From then, till now, it’s been no looking back. Unlike other degrees which restrict you to a field, Media Technology is a multi faceted degree. The course structure is so finely designed to give the student an opportunity to excel in what he/she is truly capable in. Whether, you love the Media field, Computers, or Electronics or even management, this course has it all. It gives you what it takes for you to launch your career in what you truly are capable in. I’m now working at Infosys, and I must say, my ardent interest in Web Technologies, which sprung up in Karunya, and harnessed by my Department, which gave me all the support and freedom, led me to design and develop the website on which you are currently viewing this, to give me the courage to boldly face the world and say ‘Yes I can do that’.
I have many of my colleagues here in Infosys, who envy me, for the sole reason that I had the opportunity to take up this unique course. I’m really grateful to my mentors, staff and friends who make this department what it is.I can now boldly say that I am not only skilled in what I like, but know and have a pretty good expertise in whatever was taught, all thanks to that one decision.

The last 4 years that I gave to Karunya, I will not say have been the best years of my life, but have definitely been the most well used years of my life.
Stepping into a new branch that no one had heard of before in india, my future looked vague and misty, the only hope I clung on to was that second year and after would be more well spent. The first year was the hardest, this was because the subjects i faced were almost irrelevant to the field I was most interested in.Second year came and I met the two professors who changed the outlook I had on my world completely. One professor taught me to be self disciplined and to control my anger, the other taught me to be passionate about what I wanted to do, I gleaned from the professors everything I could after class hours. The love they had for me and my friends as individuals and as their students was overwhelming, they were hard on us when times were hard and they gave us praise when praise was due. They were available at almost all hours of the day and at times way after midnight if it was necessary. This course, cannot be learned from a book... (except from the electronics side and that too only to a certain extent.) I have learned all that I have, by teaching myself, reading books and other resources. Teachers were my guide, if and only if I didn't understand something.
I rarely asked for help and rather kept to my group always trying to come up with ideas and trying something out, and after it worked the first time made note of it, and if it seemed like it would fail, I would not put in much effort. To get to the point, this course is not about how much the teachers and professors can teach you, its how much effort you put in, 4 years may seem like a lot of time but when you follow your interest with passion, the moments fly by very fast.I am now working for an online advertising firm called Martini Media Networks in San Francisco, CA and also have started a photography buisness on the side.

Having completed my 4 years in the dept of media, I look back and relish the sight of the enormous hurdle that I’ve just crossed. It wasn’t an easy journey throughout. There were milestones completed with tears and uncertainty looming large with our own skepticism holding us back. Having doubts in our own creative ability posed a drag, preventing us from launching out. But here I am now, at the other end of the tunnel. The tiny light that we had seen is now a reality, who would have guessed that its radiance would be this glorious finally. True to what the department stands for, “to bring out media professionals with a social concern” - here I am, here I stand… ready to take on the world headlong.
