Memorandum of Understanding with CISCO systems
Cisco Systems signed an agreement with Karunya University on
5.11.07 to have its ‘Regional–Local Academy’ in the Karunya
University Campus. Mr. Jegan Jothivel, Cisco Area Academy
Manager–India & SAARC and Dr. Anne Mary Fernandez, Vice
Chancellor I/C, Karunya University signed the agreements in
the presence of the former Registrar Dr. Joseph Thomas and
Director I/C (Computer Science & Technology) Dr. Elijah
Blessing.
This agreement will enable Karunya University to
run CISCO certified programmes such as CCNA (Cisco Certified
Network Associate), Network Security and Wireless LAN. These
certification programmes will commence from Jan 2008 for the
Karunya University students. For the benefit of people from
Coimbatore, these certification courses will also be run at the
Karunya University City Centre. Karunya University is investing
one crore of rupees for developing the school of Computer
Science and Technology into a centre of Excellence in the areas
of Networking. |

Memorandum of Understanding with Nanonics Ltd.Israel
Karunya University,
Coimbatore and Nanonics Ltd., Israel signed an MoU on 15 October 2007 to
establish a Centre of Excellence in Nanoscience and Technology and to
take up application oriented R&D at Karunya University with expertise in
physics, electrical, electronics, bio-technology and University
Hospital. Collaboration between Karunya University and universities such
as Cornell University, Hebrew University and Hadassah medical hospital
is also envisaged according to the MoU.
A technical team from Nanonics Ltd., is to evolve
relevant programs for Centre of Excellence for Nanoscience and
Technology as a nodal centre in India for R&D and initiate
nanotechnology programs for under-graduate and post-graduate students to
meet the requirements of nanotechnologists in India. |

Establishing a speciality hospital with stem
cell research is one of the highlights of the MoU. Student Exchange
Programme is another area identified for collaboration.
Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran, Chancellor and Dr. Joseph
Thomas, former Registrar signed the MoU on behalf of Karunya University
whereas Nanonics Ltd., Israel was represented by Mr. Albert Amini, Chief
Executive Officer, Nanonics Ltd., Jerusalem and Ms. Sheeba Josef,
Nanonics Ltd., Israel in the presence of Dr. Anne Mary Fernandez, Vice
Chancellor i/c, Karunya University and Dr. T. Chellathurai, Director
(Projects) and Dr. Paul Appasamy. |

Memorandum of Understanding with Polish University
Karunya University, Coimbatore and University of
Information Technology and Management, Rzesz’ow, Poland signed an MOU to
establish academic linkages and contacts between the universities. The
MOU aims at facilitating the exchange of faculty & students for
training, academic courses and research. Other objectives of the faculty
exchange programmes are to organize workshops, seminars, conferences,
and sharing of teaching and research experiences.
Both Universities will strive for the creation of the Centres of Excellence in Science, Engineering, Technology, Management
and Humanities. It is also envisaged to explore the possibilities of
conducting twinning programmes in interdisciplinary areas of
specialization. |

The MOU was signed by Dr.(Mrs.) Anne Mary Fernandez, Vice
Chancellor (i/c) and Dr. Joseph Thomas, former Registrar on behalf of
Karunya University and Prof.Andrzej Szelc, Vice President for
International Relations signed for the University of Information and
Management, Poland.

Memorandum of Understanding with RedHat India
Ltd.
Red Hat India Ltd., has signed an
agreement with Karunya University, to have its Red Hat Academy
at Karunya University Campus. This MoU facilitates student,
faculty training on open source technologies and also to run
RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) certification course at
Karunya University Campus. |
