ASSOCIATION:

The Department has an active student association and research association through which, the students and faculties together organize various scientific/spiritual/extension activities. The association provides a common platform to execute their talents and innovations to the peer group of Karunya University as well as other Institutes.

• National seminar on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants for Public Health, September 2008.

• National seminar  on New Innovations in Cancer Research and Experimental Therapeutics, January 2009

• A National Seminar on Role of Radio Protectors in Experimental Medicine was held in April, 2009.

• Seminar on Bioethics by Prof. Jeyapol Azariah on April 2009.

• A two day seminar by an International resource person by Dr. Joshi, Emory University, Atlanta, US was held on March 2010.

Symposium

• Two days National level Technical Symposium on Biotechnology- EVOGEN 2K09, organized by Department of Biotechnology, Karunya University, Coimbatore on March 2009.

• Inauguration of the Department Association, MAISTAS '09, Technical Symposium was conducted on August 2009.

• Two days National level Technical Symposium on Biotechnology- EVOGEN 2K10, organized by Department of Biotechnology, Karunya University, Coimbatore on March 2010.

Workshop

• Workshop on Biochemical Engineering, (WBCE '09) was held on August 2009 Sponsored by Lark Innovative.

• National Workshop on Critical Perspectives on Research Methodology in Biomedical Sciences was held on October 2009 sponsored by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi.

• Workshop on PCR based Human DNA Fingerprinting Technique was organized on February 2010.

STTP/STTC

• DBT sponsored Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on Immunological Techniques in Cancer Biology on October, 2009.

• ISTE sponsored Short Term Training Programme (STTP) on Modern Immunotechnology held on March, 2009.

Training-Awareness programs

• A three day hands-on training in High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) was held in January 2010.

• A Debate on 'Bt Brinjal-The Pros and Cons' was held on February 2010.

• Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp sponsored by DST - NIMAT was held on February 2010.

• Entrepreneurship in Vermicomposting, April, 2010.

•  Institute Industry Academic Interaction (HR Meet) was held at Hotel Vijay Park, Chennai on April 2009.
